Harrison Ford is set to appear alongside Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer and a stellar ensemble cast in the political thriller, Official Secrets. Scroll down below for all the details.
Ever since he made his return to the role of Han Solo in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Harrison Ford has been the subject of many a positive conversation in Hollywood. We can now (via the The Hollywood Reporter) confirm that he has signed on for his follow-up picture, the upcoming political thriller Official Secrets. He joins Natalie Dormer in a cast that also includes the likes of Anthony Hopkins, Paul Bettany and Martin Freeman.
The film is adapted from the book The Spy Who Tried to Stop a War: Katharine Gun and the Secret Plot to Sanction the Iraq Invasion by writers Marcia Mitchell and Thomas Mitchell. Dormer is playing the lead, Katharine Gun, a British spy who was arrested for leaking information to the press. Not just any information mind you – this intel claimed the U.S. used illegal means to coerce the United Nations Security Council into allowing them to go to war with Iraq.
Avengers’ Vision Paul Bettany has signed on to play Martin Bright, the London Observer reporter whom received Gun’s leaked info. The reporter goes to an awful lot of trouble to set Gun free, but soon realises that both of their lives are in danger. Harrison Ford is playing a CIA agent, while Anthony Hopkins will play a retired U.K. general and Martin Freeman, whose career is going from strength to strength, is portraying the newspaper’s foreign affairs editor.
Justin Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) is directing from a screenplay by Sara Bernstein and Gregory Bernstein (The Conspirator). Production on Official Secrets begins in May this year.
