The first trailer for the upcoming jazz biopic Miles Ahead has dropped – and it looks pretty amazing! Scroll down for all the details.
If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis.
That old lady in Billy Madison was right, Miles Davis was one cool guy, something which Don Cheadle gets absolute spot on in the first trailer for Miles Ahead.
Set to a jumping and improvisation jazz track, the intense clip boasts a side of the seminal jazz musician many fans won’t have necessarily seen – I’m talking as many guns as their are trumpets.
Miles Ahead premiered in October on the final night of the New York Film Festival and marks the directorial debut of its star Don Cheadle. However, Don Cheadle was originally only going to act in the movie. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, he sounded off on the events that lead him to becoming the director:
No, and when it first came to me, it was just something for me to act in. When I met with [Miles’] family, I told them I wanted to do something that wasn’t like I had seen before, and I had a take on the movie, that if I was going to play him, that it had to be as creative and different, that if it wasn’t as aspirational as he was, then I wasn’t really that interested. And before I got to my house after that meeting, it kind of came to me that that would be hard for anyone else possibly to see it the same way that I was seeing it, so if I was going to do it, I’d probably have to direct it. And as I was calling them, they were kind of calling me to say the same thing.
Set in 1979 New York, the film picks up when Davis ended a five-year “silent period” and joined ranks with a Rolling Stone reporter (played by Ewan McGregor here) in an effort to reboot his music career.
Miles Ahead hits theaters on April 1. You can see the trailer for yourself below:
