The trailer for the upcoming Pandemic has dropped and it proves the zombie genre still has some bite left in it. Scroll down for all the details.
Pandemic is shot as if it was a first-person shooter, putting you in the shoes – or bio-suit – of its team of protagonists. While I’m not usually a fan of the handheld camera/first-person gimmick it seems to work surprisingly well here. The trailer drops you in the middle of the damn zombie apocalypse as part of a crew designed to face the undead hordes head on.
It certainly is an interesting premise with shades of video games like Left 4 Dead and Dying Light for good measure. The question remains: will it translate as well as does in the trailer for the entire run-time? I don’t know about you, but I find all that shaky cam gets a little tiresome after ten minutes.
In the movie, Rachel Nichols plays a doctor who arrives in Los Angeles to prevent the epidemic from spreading across the globe, although it wouldn’t surprise me if she and her team – which includes Mekhi Phifer, Alfie Allen, Pat Healy, and Missi Pyle – ultimately fail in their task. I’m not being pessimistic, but these zombie movies don’t usually have a happy ending.
Pandemic comes to cinemas in limited release on April 1 before being released via VOD on April 5.
Will it be any good? Check out the trailer below and make up your own mind.
