In case you missed it, Marvel have released the latest 60 second trailer for Captain America: Civil War during the Super Bowl. Scroll down for all the details.
Up until now, we’d only received a short teaser for the first Phase Three movie and a series of promotional posters. Apart from word that Captain America: Civil War has tested better than any other Marvel movie in special screenings, things have been rather quiet on the Avengers front.
But now we have the latest 60 second trailer that teases a lot of new footage but still gives very little away – unless you’re a fan of the comics in which case you’ll know the story inside out.
In the latest promo piece, Tony Stark uses an incarnation of the briefcase armour he uses in Iron Man 2, this time it comes complete with a high-tech glove that he uses to block a point blank shot from Bucky. Speaking of which, we see a fair amount of shots of Bucky taking the fight to Stark. Whether he is being manipulated mentally is up for debate, but judging by what we’ve seen so far, this will form the inevitable rift between Cap and Stark.
We also got some pretty epic “we stand united” chants similar to what the prisoners chanted in The Dark Knight Rises. While we’re not expecting Captain America to climb out of a giant hole in the ground, it’ll be interesting to see when and where that fits into the movie. There are also some new costumes for Hawkeye and a shiny new helmet for Ant-Man.
However the thing that got us most excited was the money shot – both teams standing face-to-face ready to do battle. While there’s still no sign of Spidey, the final close-up lands on a very cool-looking Black Panther, something we weren’t expecting (but nonetheless very pleased) to see.
Captain America: Civil War will be released on May 6, 2016.
