It seems Deadpool has been up to his old tricks, this time using his slick sense of humour to launch a fake ‘clickbait’ site as part of the movie marketing campaign. Scroll down for all the details.
To put it simply, the Deadpool advertising campaign in the lead-up to the character’s cinema release has been nothing short of exceptional. From some very NSFW footage, a Deadpool testicular cancer awareness promo and even a planned Super Bowl takeover, it seems the whole world has gone crazy for the Merc with the Mouth.
But if all that wasn’t enough, Deadpool has taken time out his busy schedule to pull a prank on all the gullible idiots who find themselves falling for clickbait again and again. He’s the face of a new site dubbed ClickPooler.com, which basically generates different headlines that you share on social media. When your mates or followers click the link, they’re greeted with a big ol’ picture of Wade and some truly inspired ads. If you’re a Deadpool fan with any worth or credibility, the chimichanga themed links will be a dead giveaway.
I have to say that this is another masterstroke for the marketing team, another notch on their built to generate even more insane hype for everybody’s favourite R-rated superhero.
Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano and Ed Skrein among others.
It will be released here in the UK on February 10, while the U.S.A. get it on February 12.
