2. The Jungle Book
The length of this trailer alone should prove just how serious the folks over at Disney are at making The Jungle Book the next big thing. At two minutes long, this trailer cost a massive $20 million to air during the Super Bowl. I’m guessing somebody high up is confident the film will succeed.
The first thing to note is that we see all the animals speak for the first time. While a little jarring at first, you’ll find yourself warming up to the actors in various degree. I’m yet to be convinced by a cockney Shere Kahn, but aside from that, this promo gave me everything I wanted and more. There’s just the right amount of humour (which we know Jon Favreua is adept at anyway) and enough teasing action shots to ensure thrills and spills without giving away its whole hand. Bill Murray looks to be a genius choice to play Baloo, but I’m not sure if Ben Kingsley is phoning it in with this one – I pray I’m mistaken.
Aside from a couple of niggles, this looks superb.
